The lives of 776 children nationwide will be forever impacted this summer by the generosity of local communities who supported The Salvation Army Thrift Store’s 2017 Send a Kid to Camp campaign.

As of Monday morning, more than 10,000 people have been evacuated in B.C.s interior due to a weekend of multiple wildfires, road closures, evacuations and a provincial state of emergency.

Salvation Army emergency response units and crews remain on the scene in several locations providing food, hydration and emotional and spiritual support to first responders and evacuees.

Jim was 70, penniless and living in a storage locker when he turned to The Salvation Army in Belleville, Ont. for help. “I was in a pit,” says Jim. “And there was only myself to blame.”
